The Professional Poker Tour (PPT) is a series of televised poker tournaments, spinning off from the World Poker Tour (WPT) television series. It bills itself as the first professional poker league, and is limited to players who have established themselves on the World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, or major participation on the poker circuit. Players participating in the Professional Poker Tournament do not need money to participate in the tournament. This means that entry for the poker tournament is free, even though there are huge amounts of money prizes.
Each professional poker tournament offers large tournament prizes of $200,000.
The Tournament is divided into 5 parts. Each part is broadcasted in a different show. The first four quarters are played in order to decide upon the 6 final players. They will play in the fifth and final poker tournament show. Only the top six poker players receive money prizes in this poker tournament.
The PPT is Exclusive and only 136 players are invited to the poker tournament. The PPT is perhaps the most exclusive Poker Tournament game in the world. The players of the PPT are invited according to the following factors:
The player's rank and performance in the WPT, and in the WSOP (the World Series of Poker).
The player's ranking on the 2004 Poker Europa List.
The player's ranking in the Cardplayer Magazine and in the Phil Hellmuth Jr Champion of the Year list.
Invitation by the PPT Advisory Committee.
Membership in the World Poker Tour Walk of Fame or the Poker Hall of Fame.
The Professional Poker Tournament is performed in five of the most prestigious casinos in the world. The winner of the Professional Poker Tournament receives $200,000 and the prestigious title of PPT Champion.
