Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens and linebacker/defensive end Jarret Johnson have agreed in principle to a new six- year contract.
The four-year pro was taken in the fourth round of the 2003 draft and has played in 63 games, starting 15, including 14 in the last two seasons. The Alabama product has 144 career tackles, three sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception which he returned for a touchdown.
"It's good to keep Jarret," said Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome. "He has been a very productive player for us with the ability to line up at a number of positions. He's tough, smart and always prepared. The coaches can start him at an outside linebacking spot, but he can also play with his hand in the dirt, and he's solid in coverage."
