At PokerStars players have opportunities to win their way to tournaments all over the world at almost any time of the year. This January will be no exception as PokerStars offers up the 2009 Caribbean Adventure.

The poker site announced this week that its major live tournament in the Bahamas will take place Jan. 4-10 at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino on Paradise Island.

The Caribbean Adventure features a $10,000 main event running Jan. 5-10. There are also $1,000, $2,000 and $5,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em events to add to the series.

New to the PCA for 2009 is a High Roller Event planned to stretch over three days. The High Roller Event will feature a $25,000 buy-in to bring some of the biggest names - or at least the players with the deepest pockets - to the tables.

Last year the Caribbean Adventure attracted more than 1,100 players, most of whom qualified on PokerStars. Online satellites are already running on the poker site for players to win prize packages to play in the Caribbean Adventure.

There are cash and Frequent Player Point qualifiers available in a range of buy-ins. Players can also work their way into a seat in the Steps Sit and Go satellites for as little as $7.50 or 500 FPPs.

The prize packages up for grabs are worth $14,300 and include the $10,000 main event buy-in as well as hotel accommodation and money for expenses.

"Competing and winning last year was such a great experience," said Bertrand Grospellier, better known online as ElkY. "The PCA playing field is always diverse and competitive because of the amount of PokerStars qualifiers - the location can't be beat, and I can't wait to go back."

Of course, ElkY's "great experience" in the 2008 event was helped along by the fact that he won the main event to earn $2 million. The win put Bertrand well on his way to a successful 2008 poker season that included a final-table finish at the Grand Prix de Paris and two cashes at the World Series of Poker.

His winning streak has continued online as well. During the recent World Championship of Online Poker at PokerStars, he cashed deep in several of the events to be the most successful PokerStars pro of the series.

Many of his fellow Team PokerStars members will also be returning to the Bahamas in January to join Grospellier at the Caribbean Adventure. Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer and Daniel Negreanu are already slated to attend, according to PokerStars.
