GSN has a new lineup for Sunday nights that will be a poker fan pleaser. The network will pair High Stakes Poker and episodes of the World Poker Tour for back-to-back poker action starting Sunday, Sept. 28.

The evening begins with High Stakes Poker at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the World Poker Tour at 9 p.m.

"We think poker on Sunday night is a great way for viewers to end their weekend and begin their week," said Kevin Belinkoff, vice president of original programming and development at GSN. "With High Stakes Poker and World Poker Tour, we're proud to have the best poker in the world and we're looking forward to establishing Sunday night on GSN as the home of poker on television."

With four seasons come and gone and a fifth season on the way, High Stakes Poker is considered the richest cash game on television. Past seasons have showcased top players such as Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu and Jamie Gold.

High Stakes Poker was unique when it first aired because it was the first poker show that wasn't in a tournament setting. Instead, the players sat down for a ring game with a minimum $100,000 buy-in.

It didn't take long to see someone buy in with much more than the minimum. In Season 1, Daniel Negreanu brought $1 million to the table, and Brad Booth did the same thing in Season 3.

In the fourth season, High Stakes Poker upped the level for all the players. For part of the season, there was a minimum $500,000 buy-in.

Season 5 of the show is expected to start airing in 2009. One change made for the fifth season is that the program will show every hand played, as opposed to the 60-70% shown in the past.

The World Poker Tour is another place to find some of the world's best poker players. The WPT films the final table of its events, and often there is a pro at the table, or the winner of the event becomes a star in the poker world.

Through the life of the WPT so far, it has awarded more than $300 million in cash prizes and crowned more than 80 WPT Poker-Made Millionaires. Some of the big names who've taken down WPT events include Negreanu, Carlos Mortensen, Michael Mizrachi, Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiaria and more.
